• Rooms
We stayed in Room 14 on the first floor, above the snug. Although the windows look onto the street, this room is away from the restaurant and bar and so one of the quieter rooms at night. Large enough to add a z-bed it has a basin in the room and in the en-suite bathroom there's a roll-top bath as well as a shower. On our second visit we stayed in Room 9, large with a spacious bathroom and two basins, it's at the back of the building and is not only one of our favourites, but one of the quietest rooms.Bramley products are complementary in all of the rooms as is the WiFi. Sky TV, complimentary water and cute little tablet face towels (just add water!) are in all of the rooms. Extra beds can be added to the rooms and are charged at £25 per night and pets are welcome in some of the rooms.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is our Founder Lulu's favourite small boutique hotel in the Cotswolds. All of us feel like a weary traveller at times, looking for somewhere really lovely to rest our mind and body - we have found just the place. This award-winning Chic Retreat in Gloucestershire is a modern take on the traditional coaching inn in the heart of the Cotswolds where, in the olden days, travellers came to rest and enjoy caskets of beer and great food. The young, good-looking team of staff is some of the most friendly and helpful we've come across.

Real ales, a local, seasonal menu and 14 great bedrooms make The Wheatsheaf Inn the perfect place to stay in the Cotswolds. Dogs and children are welcome.

    Host story

Our décor is about using the best materials and beautiful furnishings – to offer an understated, cool design as opposed to opulence. Here it’s about independence of spirit – it’s a much more informal atmosphere and the staff are attentive without being in your face. It doesn’t matter who you are – whether you’re a film star or a businessman – you come here and you feel relaxed.

Our favourite activities at The Wheatsheaf Inn are sleeping, eating and drinking with the occasional jaunt to nearby Cheltenham, followed by a spoiling treatment in the spa room. Cosy up to roaring fires in the winter and eat outside in the tiered cottage garden in the summer.

It would, however, be a shame to miss out on everything that is right on your doorstep, from racing at Cheltenham, exploring the Cotswolds villages, fishing and shooting, to Blenheim Palace and world-famous Giffords Circus (advance booking required).

The Wheatsheaf Inn serves seasonal British food - delicious, simple, rustic food without pretension. The focus is always on flavour and generosity of spirit.  Some of our favourites include Flat Iron Chicken with Tenderstem Broccoli & Garlic Butter and the homemade Gazpacho. The menu changes daily and a scrumptious brunch is served on the weekends from 10 am to 4 pm. The wine list is large with over 300 different wines from around the world and at least 15 wines by the glass.

Traditional English Afternoon Tea is served from 4 pm to 6 pm every day. Parents will be relieved and happy to know that there's a great children's menu too! Breakfast is served from 8 am. Continental breakfast is included.

    What we loved...

What's not to love? This stylish cosy inn ticks all the boxes for a mid-week or weekend break. Massive beds, spacious bathrooms, mouth-watering homemade cookies and a fab breakfast. The young dynamic team are also rather easy on the eye!
