Beau-Rivage Genève is the oldest hotel in private hands in Geneva. Rewind to 1865: the building was constructed under the guidance of Albertie and Jean-Jacques Mayer, and five generations later the property is still owned by the same family. Sitting in the business and shopping district of the city, and with a prime lakeside setting, you can enjoy views of the shimmering water, Jet d'Eau, and the towering mountains in the distance.
Step inside the refined hotel and be greeted by pillars of marble, a circular fountain, candelabras, and impressive arrangements of flowers – a grand entrance indeed. And expect a warm welcome: the talented team of staff have truly mastered the art of hospitality, with the happiness of guests at the forefront of their minds. Over the years, Royal Highnesses, Maharajahs, politicians, authors, actors and poets have laid their heads down at this landmark luxury hotel.
Have you heard of the angels of Beau-Rivage? Present in all shapes and forms, there are 150 guardians in total. Discover them across the six floors as sculptures, paintings and frescoes.
Chef Dominique Gauthier skillfully heads up the kitchen at Michelin-starred restaurant Le Chat-Bott; a position he’s held since 2001. The fine dining establishment focuses on working with local producers, and Dominique tells a story through his artfully presented plates of food. Delight in the likes of potato millefeuille with brown morels, artichoke and onion juice, rack of lamb from Vessy flavoured with wood garlic and turnips, or langoustines wrapped in kadaïf with citrus and basil.
Other dining options include table d’hôte in the wine cellar, Thai dishes at purple-hued Le Patara, Mediterranean-style cuisine at La Terrasse (open seasonally) where you can dine with views to the water and mountains, and Asian fusion at Albertine's Lounge. You really are spoilt for choice. Wherever you choose to have a meal, stop by the bar area first to kick off proceedings.
Note: Le Chat-Botté is not open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
