The elegant Hotel Regency is a luxury boutique hotel, housed within a beautifully restored 19th-century villa. Built for Ministers of State in the period when Florence was the capital of the newly-unified Kingdom of Italy, the hotel was given a stunning Art Nouveau makeover in 1932 by renowned interior designer Tito Chino. The décor remains faithful to the elegant Art Nouveau style, while also evoking a sense of the aristocratic sophistication of the villa’s 19th-century history, with hand-painted windows, floor-length curtains and Renaissance paintings.
Located in a prime position overlooking the Piazza d’Azelio, Hotel Regency is ideal for an exploration of historic Florence, and it’s charming secret garden makes for a relaxing retreat after a day spent in the galleries and museums. With impeccable service and a real sense of history and elegance, Hotel Regency has a well-deserved reputation for charming returning customers, and is a wonderful hideaway for a city-break in Florence.
Breakfast at Hotel Regency is a feast with homemade Italian pastries and bread straight from the oven. Jams, natural cereals, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juices are served alongside fragrant Italian coffees and eggs freshly prepared.
The hotel’s restaurant, Relais Le Jardin, is open year-round to hotel guests as well as the many locals who come for Chef Sandro Baldini’s sensational Tuscan dishes. Seasonal ingredients are sourced daily from the best local markets including black and white truffles, Florentine prime rib and porcini mushrooms. During the winter months you can dine in the Zodiaco Room with its grand mirrors and flickering candle light, whilst the Veranda has windows overlooking the private Regency garden, a very romantic spot to dine during the warmer months.
During the summer, head outside into the courtyard for weekend barbecues serving fresh fish and the famous bistteca fiorentina, grilled to perfection. The hotel also hosts ‘L’Aperetivo’ events in the garden, where guests can mingle while enjoying fine cocktails and finger food.
Rooms at Hotel Regency are decorated in a traditional, yet luxurious, style. Some rooms have views over the garden, while others look out onto the park at Piazza d’Azeglio. Many of the bathrooms feature exquisite Carrara marble details.
The hotel has a picturesque private courtyard, inspired by the gardens of Renaissance villas, that makes for a tranquil spot to unwind after a busy day of culture. The hotel is within walking distance of some of Florence’s most recognisable landmarks, including the iconic dome of Florence Cathedral, and art-lovers will be pleased to know that the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Uffizi gallery are close by. It’s worth simply getting lost in the charming streets of Florence: visit Vivoli for some of the best ice cream (the rice flavour is to die for), stroll down Via Roma and take a peek into the famous shop Luisa via Roma, before enjoying a coffee at the world famous Caffe Gilli.
When you return from a day spent exploring, enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the Il Salotto lounge bar, an elegant space designed to reflect the distinguished history of the villa.
