Secluded rural idyll
Boutique spa offering relaxing massages
Agua d’Alte is a secluded getaway perfect for those looking to unwind. This restored country house sits on a 100 hectare estate in the rural idyll of Evora in the Altenejo region, ensuring you’ll have plenty of peace and quiet as you sit back and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and stunning scenery. There’s a charming pool with a chic bar and lounge, and the main house has plenty of cosy spaces to snuggle up in during the colder months. Whether indulging in one of the treatments on offer at the wellness area, or hiking in the countryside surrounding the hotel, a stay at Agua d’Alte is one of relaxation in this pastoral paradise.
The hotel’s pool is great for a refreshing dip while basking in the gorgeous sunshine. The trendy cabana-inspired poolside lounge has plenty of comfortable seating, and serves refreshments as well as light bites. During the colder months, the main house has a cosy living room complete with library and fireplace. The wellness centre offers a range of massages and treatments, on a peaceful corner of the estate surrounded by the sound of birdsong.
There are plenty of activities allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural landscape, with hiking and cycling trails across the estate and the surrounding countryside. The team at Agua d’Alte organises a number of hands-on cultural experiences, from introductions to Alentejo cooking to pottery workshops with well-known local potters. The picturesque towns of Evora, Vila Viçosa and Monsaraz are close by, and history buffs will certainly want to visit some of the historic medieval villages and castles dotted about the surrounding landscape.
Start your day with an expansive breakfast buffet, featuring a number of sweet and savoury treats to set you up for the day. Don’t miss the freshly-laid eggs, cooked to order. Light meals are served throughout the day in the poolside lounge, and in the evenings guests can tuck into the hearty traditional fare served either in the dining room or the terrace.
