Set just inside the walls of the Medina with views out over the old port, the sprawling beach and the sea, you couldn’t ask for a better setting for your stay in Essaouira than that of Madada Mogador. But there’s no resting on location laurels here, the fit-out of this boutique hotel whilst simple is decidedly elegant with eight well-designed rooms and contemporary décor.
The service here is fantastic – attentive without ever becoming obtrusive and the lovely staff have some great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. It’s worth noting that the hotel has two pet cats – best avoided if you’re allergic but charming company if you’re not.
A good breakfast is served to your room or out on the terrace and is included in most room rates (see detail below).
The hotel’s wonderful restaurant La Table by Madada serves up traditional Moroccan fare with a French twist and features plenty of fish.
The hotel's eight rooms come in a range of shapes and sizes with each step up offering a bit more space than the last and the pricier options boasting private terraces and / or sea views.
There is a great rooftop terrace with views out over the old port and the beach – the perfect spot for a refreshing cup of mint tea.
A range of treatments and massages are available on request and cookery classes are held next-door on most days. There is also a shop on site, Le Comptoir Oriental, selling lovely ethnic pieces to take home.
Set just inside the walls of the Medina, the hotel is well-placed to explore whilst still being relatively quiet and easily accessible by car (no vehicles are allowed within the city walls). The beach and the bustling fishing port are both just a few minutes’ walk away.
