A luxurious riad, Dar Sahil is nestled in a peaceful location, just a half-hour drive from Essaouira. Imbued with the warmth and hospitality of its owners, Stéphanie and Laurent, and in keeping with the town’s colonial past, Dar Sahil combines French style with Morocco’s cuisine and climate.
With conviviality and calm as their watchwords, Stéphanie and Laurent have chosen décor of simple, rustic charm, with Moroccan accents in the shape of carved wooden furniture and doors, rich carpets and pale, rough-hewn stone walls. The centrepiece of this property is a beautiful swimming pool, particularly inviting during the heat of the summer months.
With just six bedrooms plus a suite, Dar Sahil is one of the most charming and intimate boutique riads in Essaouira.
Be sure not to miss the prix fixe menu of expertly prepared Moroccan food, sourced from local suppliers and markets and cooked under the supervision of owner Stéphanie. Feeling sociable? Join your fellow guests at the communal table. For a more intimate dinner, choose a table for two.
Dar Sahil has 6 bedrooms plus a junior suite, all decorated with a simple but elegant traditional Moroccan style. Each of the individual bedrooms open onto the beautiful central poolside terrace, perfect for reading and sunbathing. For something a bit special, the junior suite offers mountain views and its own private terrace and garden, as well as a fireplace to cosy up beside during the colder season.
There’s no better way to explore Essaouira’s beaches and hinterland than by quad bike, and the hotel will organise adventurous two-day trips featuring lunch at an authentic local restaurant.
Golfers will want to take advantage of the Golf de Mogador, a course designed by the legendary golfer Gary Player, which has been described by Golf World magazine as one of the 20 most exciting new courses in the world. Only a 20-minute drive away, it offers players unforgettable views of the Atlantic coast.
Horse and dromedary rides along the coast are also available, while Essaouira’s fabled coastal winds make it an exciting location for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Alternatively, surfers will want to try their skills at Moulay Bouzerktoun, a town down the coast from Essaouira, where even wilder conditions provide a thrilling challenge for the experienced.
