Grade II listed country house
Summer Lodge is a distinguished country house hotel in the picturesque village of Evershot, Dorset. Dating back to the 18th-century, the manor was originally built for the 2nd Earl of Ilchester, passing through the hands of other nobles before becoming the elegant boutique hotel that it is today.
Styled with elegant décor befitting of a grade II listed Georgian country house, the hotel is patchwork of vintage furnishings and flowery décor. What’s more, the drawing room was originally designed by none other than England’s prized writer, Thomas Hardy, who lived in the area.
Set within 4-acres of manicured grounds, this is a wonderfully tranquil spot - perfect for relaxing holidays and weekend breaks.
It’s worth noting that this hotel is not suitable for children under seven years of age. Pets are welcome at the hotel - please notify the hotel ahead of arrival (extra charge applies).
You won’t be short of things to do here; grab a racket and head to the tennis courts, stroll through the 4-acre gardens or work up a sweat in the fully-equipped gym. For something more adventurous the friendly staff will happily organise a range of country pursuits.
After all that exercise, a good dose of pampering is in order; head to the hotel’s spa for one of their relaxing massages or beauty treatments. Here you can also dip your toes into the heated indoor pool, take a turn in the sauna, or sink into the bubbling Jacuzzi.
Cuisine is not done by halves at Summer Lodge; the award-winning restaurant is run by first-class chef, Steve Titman, who dishes up some truly remarkable British dishes. Meals are made using locally sourced ingredients, as well as from produce grown in the hotel’s own gardens. Fancy a tipple? The celebrated sommelier Erik Zweibel MS can help you pick out the best from their wine cellars.
Afternoon Teas are also served at Summer Lodge, complete with indulgent cakes, freshly baked scones and finger sandwiches. Special dietary requirements can be catered for (please notify the hotel in advance).
A great breakfast is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates (see rate details below).
