There’s something magical about staying on a vineyard – and it’s not just the wine. Housed in a former estate cottage within the Boutari Winery on the Fantaxometocho Estate, Scalani Hills Residences offers three lovely rooms nestled in the midst of hectares upon hectares of vines and olive trees.
Whether you’re an avid wine tourist or just looking for a quiet spot to stretch out and unwind, this lovely boutique hotel offers a charming, peaceful and undeniably relaxing experience. The staff here are charming and will go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay.
A delicious breakfast is included in most room rates (check details below) and is served to your terrace. Dinner can also be arranged in the Boutari restaurant with a range of local dishes available (all paired with the estates’ delicious wines, naturally).
Keeping in line with the hotel’s focus, each suite is named after a local grape variety. All are spacious, well-equipped and stylishly designed with big comfy beds and lovely outdoor areas (opt for Liatiko or Kotsifali for terraces that really make the most of the views).
It's worth noting that there is a 2-night minimum stay.
Wine-tasting, winery tours and cooking classes can be arranged upon request.
The hotel and vineyard are set just on the outskirts of the pretty village of Skalani, around 10km outside of Heraklion. Knossos, the largest Bronze Age archaeological site and Europe’s oldest city, is just a 10-minute drive away (5km).
