The eight lovely rooms each have a cosy and traditional décor and, where possible, the original features of the ancient building have been left in to give this hotel a rustic feel. Bathrooms are basic but clean and boast powerful hydro-jet showers, with the top suite featuring a small jacuzzi too.

Prices are very reasonable here and, if you can stretch, we would recommend upgrading to bag yourself the added treat of a balcony.

    Chic Treats

Only when you book with Chic

Tucked away down a pretty cobbled street in Chania’s Old Town, Ionas Hotel is a positively charming place to stay. Set in an imaginatively yet faithfully restored historical home with certain areas dating back as far as the 16th-century, this boutique hotel offers a lovely blend of old and new.

What makes this spot all the more special is the pride and passion of the hotel’s charming owner, Michalis, which can really be felt – down to every last detail. He is a great host who instinctively knows how to look after his guests, and if he is not there himself, his son George offers an equally warm and personal service. It’s no surprise people keep coming back.

As with many a small hotel, reception is not manned 24 hours a day here, so you will need to confirm your arrival time in advance.

    Dining

A good breakfast is served out in the courtyard downstairs. The hotel's modest size means there is no restaurant on site but you are spoilt for choice nearby and Michalis and his son will happily suggest some great spots.
