Each of the eight rooms has been individually designed though all are spacious, stylish and exceedingly comfortable, with high ceilings, big comfy beds and smart, modern bathrooms (that come with the added treat of bathrobes).
There is a range of room sizes available; from the neat and cosy Standard Doubles (including a couple of single-use options) to the expansive Superior Doubles with sea views and some with balconies.
Set right on the waterfront in the heart of the picturesque Old Town – Alcanea Boutique Hotel is a luxurious pick for your stay in Chania and could not be a better base from which to explore.
This beautiful Venetian building has been carefully restored and renovated to offer eight elegant rooms that boast a tasteful blend of traditional and contemporary, with warm-coloured walls, rug-strewn floors and pictures from local artists.
Reception is not manned 24-hours a day but the lovely staff couldn’t be more attentive with fantastic recommendations for things to do, see and eat. It’s worth noting that the hotel is closed between November and April.
Set in the Turkish part of Chania’s Old Town, the hotel is centrally located to enjoy the area’s best restaurants, shops and sunsets, not to mention the Nautical Museum next door.
If you are here for a few days, we’d recommend hiring a car to get out and explore the area and beaches.
A generous made-to-order breakfast is served out on the terrace at the Café & Wine Bar overlooking the water. This is a popular spot with guests and locals alike, serving a light menu throughout the day along with local wines, cocktails and beers.
You will need to head out for dinner but are spoilt for choice on great restaurants nearby. Tamam is a particular favourite just a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
