Set in a lovingly renovated 18th-century farmhouse, this gorgeous little boutique hotel is a laid-back and lovely choice for a rural retreat. From its cosy crackling fireplace to its peaceful countryside setting; tranquility reigns throughout. Add to that the small size, with only seven rooms, and we reckon you'll only wish you’d booked to stay longer.
Its warm and attentive hosts, Cristina and Manuel, make this spot more special still, and are eager to recommend their favourite must-sees and dos in the region. Beach-goers will find paradise at the the beautiful beaches nearby, while hikers will find plenty of meandering trails to trundle.
In addition to its over 12 policy, it’s worth noting that reception is not manned 24-hours a day so you will need to contact the hotel ahead of travel to confirm your arrival time (no check-in after 11pm).
An excellent breakfast is served featuring plenty of local ingredients including homemade jams, cheeses, eggs and sausages. In fair weather, you can tuck into your morning meal out on the terrace.
While there is no restaurant, a light dinner can be arranged by prior request (not available every night of the week). There is also a sweet little honesty bar – an idyllic spot for an evening tipple.
What we loved...
I loved our stay at at Mas Rosello. The thick stone walls ensured total silence resulting in 12-hour sleeps and enforced digital detoxing as wifi was limited to communal areas. Bliss! Cristina looked after us beautifully - her breakfasts were abundant with something slightly different laid out on our table each morning, set up on the sunny terrace.

With only 7 rooms and no two the same, the style here is chic and simple. Rustic charm ebbs through the building; from its vaulted ceilings and rough stone walls to its cool tiled floors. Never fear, all the modern comforts are there too, with good beds and lovely bathrooms boasting rather luxe smellies. Whilst the stone walls can mean that WiFi struggles to reach everywhere, they also ensure peace and quiet – excellent for a good night’s sleep. There is a 2-night minimum stay.
If you are here in the summer months, there’s a sweet little pool to cool off in, while in the winter months the lounge is a cosy refuge with its inviting open fire.
Outside of the hotel, you will definitely want a car to get around, as there is little in the immediate vicinity. Nonetheless, the nearby town of Calonge, the beachside Sant Antoni de Calonge and Platja d’Aro are all a 5/10-minute drive away, while Girona is around a 40-minute drive, so you won’t be short of places to explore.
You’ll never be far from a stretch of golden sands either, with plenty of nearby beaches to visit – Cala de Castell is particularly lovely and around a 20-minute drive away.
