Perched on the riverbank in the seaside town of Fowley, this 11-room boutique hotel is a scenic spot to stay in Cornwall. Not only is the whitewashed Victorian building rather characterful in itself, but it also boasts charming views of over the water and its boats.
The coastal theme continues indoors, with plenty of nautical décor, wooden furnishings and cool blues and greys throughout. We particularly love the restaurant, which opens up over the river - what better way to breathe in that sea air.
It’s worth noting that this property is not suitable for those under 12 years of age.
A great breakfast is served in the mornings, which is prepared using local and seasonal ingredients. Later in the day, the hotel’s Q Restaurant is a popular pick with guests and locals alike, serving a range of seafood (this is Cornwall, after all) and meat dishes.
There are only 11 rooms at The Old Quay House, all of which have been individually designed. Expect anything from navy hues and whitewashed furnishings, to grey throws and high ceilings. Best of all, most rooms feature lovely views over the estuary.
While an afternoon spent boat-watching is a must during your visit, it’s well worth exploring the area too. Fowley is a sweet little town filled with independent boutiques, galleries and cafés.
