The Idle Rocks is a stylish boutique hotel in Cornwall that sits on the Harbourside of St Mawes. This 20 room Chic Retreat has new owners who have refurbished and re-opened the St Mawes landmark in its 100th year with great style and attention to detail. The restaurant at The Idle Rocks enjoys panoramic views across the harbour and the south-facing terrace nestles perfectly on the rocks making this British Chic Retreat the perfect seaside hideaway where people can re-connect with the simpler pleasures in life. Make The Idle Rocks your home-from-home for a weekend or week away with family, friends or for a romantic break for two.
Idle Sunday has arrived and is here to stay! This day is all about relaxing, being lazy, and perhaps just a little bit selfish. Put your feet up and enjoy delicious food and fresh coffee, read the Sunday newspapers, chill out on the terrace, breathe in the sea air and enjoy the good life. Sid, the concierge, can organise anything and everything for you during your stay including fishing, boating, kayaking, crabbing and tennis. There are some beautiful and invigorating coastal walks along the peninsular, recommended throughout the year. Art lovers should visit the Tate Modern in St Ives which is a little over an hours drive from St Mawes and there are many other galleries which are well worth a visit including the amazing Newlyn Gallery outside Penzance. One of Cornwall's most famous attractions is The Eden Project near St Austell, which offers a great day out for the whole family and features the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
The restaurant at The Idle Rocks produces some wonderful dishes focusing on Cornwall and its local produce; menus are seasonal and prepared with passion and simplicity. Try to be here for their impressive sunday lunch which was voted The Times' Top Sunday Lunch in 2015.
Childrens tea (supper) is served at 5:30pm in the restaurant around the Chefs Table. A menu is especially prepared by the head chef in line with The Idle Rocks' food philosophy using the most seasonal and freshest food available that day. High chairs are available in the restaurant at lunch-time although please note that young children are not encouraged in the restaurant in the evenings. Between 6:30pm and 9:30pm the Childrens Room is fully supervised to ensure parents can enjoy a quiet dinner whilst the children have some fun.
