If it’s an authentic taste of Greek country life you’re after, look no further than this hillside eco hotel. Housed on a working farm, the hideaway is alive with rural charm and homely warmth - the idyllic antidote to urban life.
With an environmentally friendly ethos, the hotel was constructed using natural materials, from the handcrafted terracotta rooftops, to the characterful exposed stone walls. Décor follows in the same vein, with anything and everything sourced from sustainable sources - be it the handmade wooden furnishings or the infrared heating. The result: a gorgeous country chic style that is only matched by the lyrical views out over the hills.
The hotel welcomes families, with a children’s pool and games room for younger guests to make use of.
Don’t want to leave your four-legged friend behind? This is a pet-friendly hotel, with plenty of walks and countryside for the furry guest to run about in (please arrange with hotel ahead of arrival, extra charge may apply).
As you can expect from a farm-based hotel, the food here is exceptional, with most of the produce sourced from the estate itself and organically certified. In fact, the traditional Greek meals here are so fresh that the menu changes daily. There is also a children’s menu for younger guests.
There are just a handful of rooms, suites and villas at Kitma Bellou, each of which has been individually decorated with careful attention to detail. In keeping with the rest of the hotel, the same cosy country style permeates through the wooden furnishings and terracotta tiles. Beds are, of course, made using natural ingredients, with three different mattresses layered on top of one another for an added dose of comfort - bliss. If you’re lucky, you may bag a room with a view out over the countryside, or even a room with its own private hot tub.
There’s plenty to keep you occupied here, whether it’s rejuvenating strolls through the countryside, or a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool. For something more active, bikes are available for hire from the hotel.
The little ones aren’t forgotten either, with a children’s pool and games room to keep them entertained.
Further afield, Greece’s prized Mount Olympus is well-worth a visit, or head to one of the nearby wineries for a taste of the regions much-loved bottles.
