This historic boutique inn is located just outside London, on the charming Amersham high street. From the Tudor building and dark wood beams, to the exposed brick walls and crackling fireplace; the hotel is awash with character - and that’s before you step into the beautifully appointed rooms.
Renowned British designer Isle Crawford has graced The Crown’s interiors with her artistic talent, carefully decorating each room in a traditional ‘English inn’ style. The result: a seamless blend of period and modern styles. To top it all off, the food is divine with a two Michelin-starred chef running the kitchens. Despite all this expertise, the atmosphere here is low-key and relaxed, ticking all the boxes for a restorative break.
A full cooked-to-order breakfast is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates (see rate detail below). Two Michelin-starred chef, Atul Kochhar, runs The Hawkyns restaurant, which serves outstanding and unusual blend of British and Indian fare. The bar has real ales and lagers on tap, alongside some excellent wines, gins and handcrafted cocktails.
Spread across three separate buildings, each of the 38 rooms has been individually decorated by none other than celebrated designer Isle Crawford. Her flair for interiors can be seen everywhere; from the cool-hued colour palette, to the swish beds and luxe fabrics. It’s worth noting that some rooms have freestanding tubs in the rooms - fine for the exhibitions among us, but perhaps not for the more private.
Gym-bunnies can make use of the small hotel gym, or practice your stretches with one of the hotel’s Yoga classes. All that exercise can be exhausting, so relax and unwind with a pampering treatment for the Red House Spa.
It’s worth getting out and about while you’re here too, with plenty to explore outside the hotel’s doors. Located in the quaint town of Amersham in Buckinghamshire, The Crown is just a stone’s throw from Amersham Museum. Bookworms will love the Roald Dahl Museum, which is just a short drive away, while hikers will find plenty of romantic walks in the nearby Chilterns.
