Only when you book with ChicFormerly a Council building, the Town Hall Hotel building was built to impress and it shows; from the grand Edwardian exterior, to the marble-clad lobby complete with a grand staircase and lofty pillars. Built in the early 20th-century, much care and attention has been paid to preserving and restoring the building’s original features.
It’s not all marks from days gone by; blended with the Art Deco décor and Edwardian architecture are plenty of modern touches and facilities. The hotel is in a quieter part of the city too; located in Bethnal Green, it’s a relaxing spot to retreat to after a busy day.
Dining
With not one, but two restaurants to choose from at the hotel, you’ll be spoilt for choice come dinner time. For a fine dining experience, pop into the Typing Room which serves a range of exciting and creative European fare using fresh British produce. Alternatively, the more relaxed Corner Room dishes up some delicious British fare and drinks using seasonal ingredients.
Accommodation
Rooms are modern and crisp, with splashes of colour, large beds and slick bathrooms. It’s worth noting that some bathrooms are separated from the bedroom by glass walls - perfect for the exhibitionists among us, but perhaps not ideal for the more prudish. Nonetheless, these rooms tend to have curtains that can be drawn around the bathroom if desired.
Activities
If you fancy a dip, head to the heated indoor pool. There is also a gym to make use of - if you’re not too tired from all the city-exploring, that is.
