History and modern age combine together in this beautifully preserved building in Berlin that's the new HOTEL ZOO. Built in 1891 as a private residence it then became a luxury hotel in 1911 and in the 1950's was a firm favourite amongst film stars and celebrities.
Interior Designer Dayna Lee has brought this old gem back to life with New York style and flair infusing the building with sophistication and townhouse elegance. The heart and soul of HOTEL ZOO is the living room with its seven-metre high ceilings, industrial windows and five-metre long open fireplace.
GRACE Restaurant is a glamorous spot for fine dining in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. The passionate team in the kitchen have created as exclusive dishes that can all be ordered as sharing plates, ideal for a get together with friends. Wagyu Beef, Miso Black Cod and Creamy Rock Shrimps are a firm favourite amongst guests. Vegetarians aren't forgotten and the Braised Eggplant and Jaipur Artichoke are simply delicious. During the warmer months head outside to the terrace and dine under the stars.
If you want to feel like a movie star make
your way to the GRACEfor a pre-dinner drink. It's sexy and seductive and has a distinct 1920's feel. Sip champagne or order an exotic cocktail with Tonka Bean, Lemon Grass, Szechuan Pepper and Ginger for an added kick. The bar is often closed after 7 pm for private events.
HOTEL ZOO is home to one of the city's most beautiful rooftop terraces. The bar and lounge area has 270-degree views across Berlin and with the southwest perspective, the sunsets are simply stunning. An open fireplace creates a relaxed vibe and the ideal setting for a cocktail or two. With a little bit of notice, BBQs can be organised as can DJs to create a clubhouse atmosphere.
Smoking is allowed in the open-air winter garden which has its own 15-foot fireplace. What we loved...
Great location, charming staff, beautiful interiors, relaxed vibe, striking design… You walk through the grand doors of Hotel Zoo and immediately know you have landed somewhere special. Follow the tiger-filled carpet along to the lobby, marvel at the intricate lights hanging from the ceiling and bright, plush furniture… Meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout – every little element of the design has been thoughtfully considered and the result is breathtaking.
