Why so chic?

Only when you book with Chic
Set across two adjacent buildings – one honey-hued, the other blue-splashed – this Chic Retreat may not look too impressive from the outside, but step inside and you’ll find revamped interiors and a jumble of eclectic furnishings. Created by traveller Ulf Acksel, who still lives on the top floor, the hotel was inspired by things he’d seen or picked up on his travels.
Ackselhaus is all about travelling, with rooms inspired by Rome, Cairo and Africa to name but a few. On the other hand, the Blue building is all seaside chic décor, nautical colours and wooden furnishings.
Breakfast is served in the Club del Mar café downstairs - you can even enjoy it outside in fair weather. While there is no restaurant at the hotel for lunch and dinner, there are plenty of options nearby.
There is an eclectic range of rooms here, all individually designed. Themes range from places that creator Ulf Acksel visited on his travels, to beach-inspired décor. Rooms are spread between the Askelhaus and Blue building.
There’s a charming little Balinese courtyard to laze in during the summer months, or else cosy up by the fireplace in the Club del Mar café downstairs during the winter.
The hotel is tucked away in the Prenzlauer Berg area of Berlin, just a short walk from the trendy Mitte district and from Alexanderplatz. The iconic Berlin Wall isn’t far off either - a must-see during your stay.
