The Royal Oak is your quintessential English country pub, nestled in the beautiful west Berkshire village of Yattendon. With excellent food and pretty views, this is the perfect place to kick back with a delicious local ale in hand and watch the world go by. Ideally you’ll be sitting in the lovely walled garden, but you’re just as likely to be snuggled up by one of the roaring log fires during the cooler months.
Cosy and comfortable, the inn has only 10 rooms, and staff here are particularly friendly. This is also a dog-friendly hotel – just be sure to contact the hotel well ahead of your stay to arrange.
In true English fashion, hearty lunches and dinners are dished up in the hotel’s Michelin-recommended pub. Food is prepared using locally-sourced ingredients, and there is a great range of real ales served in the bar. Breakfast is also served, and is included in most room rates (see detail below).
Each of the 10 rooms has been decorated in a typically English manner, with warm furnishings and comfy beds. It is worth noting that some of the Premier rooms are set in a pretty adjoining cottage.
If you fancy a little pampering, the adjacent beauty rooms next door offer a range of massages and treatments. There are also plenty of country trails to explore, and the sweet little village of Yattendon is well worth poking around.
