True to its name, this quirky little boutique hotel cleverly emphasises the surreal, so even after a night in one of their comfy beds, you’ll feel as though you’ve not quite woken up. Once a convent, there’s plenty of architectural heritage worth admiring; from the dramatic stained-glass windows and grand arches to the hotel’s lofty ceilings.
Despite evidence of bygone days, there’s no missing the modern touches at Hotel Dream. For one, the curious glass bar keeps the hotel firmly in the 21st-century, as do the sketched hallway messages and bold flashes of colour among a sea of black and white.
Located in the centre of Mons, this is an ideal base for exploring, with just a short walk taking you to the town square (Grand Place).
A generous breakfast buffet is served in the mornings. When your tummy starts to rumble again, you’re well-catered for, with not one, but two restaurants at the hotel. Mezzo is a more formal affair with an à la carte menu, while Mea Culpa Bistro serves snacks throughout the day. There is also a well-stocked cocktail bar – great for sipping on an aperitif.
Rooms come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, but all are well-equipped, each with a different theme; from cartoons to surrealist art. The décor seamlessly blends old and new; some rooms feature intricate original windows while others are adorned with modern art.
Be it a dunk in the hot tub, a lounge in the sauna or even a stint in the Turkish bath; TLC is never in short supply at Hotel Dream. The spa also has a range of massages and beauty treatments available – the perfect antidote to a busy day on your feet. If you're not feeling too worn out, you can put yourself through your paces in the hotel gym.
