Sophisticated looks and timeless elegance abound at Primero Primera but it’s the intimate and inviting ambience that really sets this 30-bedroom boutique hotel apart. Built in 1955 by Carlos Pérez-Sala, he and his family still live on the first floor and their friendly presence, along with the hotel’s charming staff, will have you feeling at home in no time.
Set in the residential district of Tres Torres, this atmospheric gem is only 15 minutes from the city centre but all the more peaceful for it and the lovely garden and pool offer the perfect spot to while away an afternoon in the hot summer months.
A simple but delicious breakfast is served each morning down in the hotel’s café, El Comedor, or up in your room should you prefer. The café stays open all day serving drinks and light snacks, or you can take advantage of the hotel’s honesty bar for a tipple or two beside the fire.
Each of the 30 rooms has been individually designed, combining the traditional and more contemporary to charming effect. Some rooms are set up in the eaves with lovely wooden-beamed ceilings whilst some of the pricier options come with the added treat of a terrace. Bathrooms are crisp and modern with toiletries from Gilchrist & Soames.
The hotel’s well-tended gardens offer welcome respite from the bustling city nearby and the small pool is a treat in the hot summer months. If you’re feeling active, there is a gym on site for all your workout needs or you can simply retire to one of the comfy salons with a book from the hotel’s library.
The Sarriá district is nearby, home to bars, restaurants and some of the best independent shops in Barcelona or you’re a 15-minute metro ride from the centre of town.
