Set across a historic building dating back to 1856 on one of Barcelona’s most iconic squares - Hotel DO: Plaça Reial offers just 18 luxury rooms in an undeniably atmospheric setting.
Completely renovated in 2011, the building’s original features have been sensitively maintained whilst more modern details keep things firmly in the 21st-century - from contemporary art pieces dotted throughout to cool light fittings and designer furnishings. The result is a stylish and inviting boutique hotel.
Perhaps most notable, however, is the hotel’s on-site fine dining restaurant (one of three) - La Cuina - which brings to life local cuisine with impressive creativity and elegance.
The aforementioned La Cuina offers delicious Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine down under the stone vaulted ceilings in the cellar of this historic building.
For something more relaxed - book into La Terrassa del DO where you can enjoy tapas and a wide selection of wines at tables spilling out onto popular Plaza Reial.
Come summer, head up to the rooftop terrace and tuck into more local delights at El Terrat del DO with views out over roofs of the Gothic Quarter.
The 18 rooms are each individually designed with each step up offering a bit more space than the last and most boasting views out over Plaça Reial or onto La Rambla. Bathrooms are sleek and modern and come with the added treat of bathrobes and Molton Brown toiletries. If you fancy splashing out (both literally and figuratively), upgrade to a terrace room to bag yourself your own little plunge pool.
The hotel’s roof terrace complete with cooling plunge pool, offers an inviting spot to while away an afternoon in the hot summer months. There are also a sauna and steam room on site, perfect if you’re looking to relax and in-room massages can be arranged on request.
Located just off La Rambla, towards the Gothic Quarter - the hotel could not be better placed to explore. With the picturesque Plaça Reial right on your doorstep and the Picasso Museum and trendy El Born neighbourhood both just a 10/15-minute walk away - there’s plenty to do, see and eat nearby.
