Whilst rooms here can come up a little cosy, they are well laid out and offer a cool, pared back and elegant style with many still featuring the building’s original tiled floors. Some look into the internal courtyard (so can be a little dark), whilst others offer views out onto the streets below. Bathrooms do come up compact and some are open-plan, with sinks in the room.

    Why so chic?

Why travel experts chose this hotel

    Chic Treats

Only when you book with Chic

It’s all about authenticity at this Chic Retreat with the people behind Casa Bonay hell-bent on creating a truly Barcelonian experience.

The brainchild of a highly creative group of collaborators, from fabric, lighting and interior designers to homemade soap producers and local weavers - the décor is delightfully eclectic and interesting, reflecting the vibrant city outside. Contemporary Catalan furnishings offset the original features of the stunning Neoclassical building that houses the hotel, resulting in a charmingly rustic chic vibe.

And just wait until you see the rooftop terrace - there are few more inviting spots in the summer months for a sangria come sundown.

    Dining

With international chefs, coffee and wine connoisseurs also counted amongst the collaborators - you’re spoilt for choice on great food and drink at Casa Bonay.

Breakfast is served each morning in Satan’s Coffee Corner or the Libertine lounge, which is open all day for coffee and cake or tapas and cocktails come evening - with DJs and live music really upping the ante on the weekends. Elsewhere, Elephant, Crocodile, Monkey offers traditional Southeast Asian cuisine most evenings and is popular with guests and locals alike. In the summer months, head up to the roof for BBQ and natural wines at Chiringuito.

    Accommodation

Whilst rooms here can come up a little cosy, they are well laid out and offer a cool, pared back and elegant style with many still featuring the building’s original tiled floors. Activities

The hotel plays host to a number of fun events - from documentary and taco nights to book readings and concerts and the communal areas are buzzy and inviting.

Set in the vibrant Eixample district, the hotel is well placed to explore, with Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia a 20-minute walk north and the atmospheric Gothic Quarter and trendy El Born districts the same distance south. The beach is a 30-minute walk away - perfect for an afternoon snooze and a swim in the summer (just be sure to keep an eye on your belongings, pickpockets are rife).
