Why so chic?

Set in the heart of the trendy El Born district, Chic & Basic is a charming budget boutique hotel in Barcelona. Perhaps not quite true to its name, this boutique hotel offers a rather dramatic design that is far from basic; intricate light fixtures and glass-encased bathroom cubicles sit neatly alongside the original cornice mouldings and high ceilings.
If you’re looking to stay outside of the more touristy parts of town whilst still being close to the action, this Chic Retreat fits the bill. Only a short walk will take you to the beach and you'll find a clutch of independent shops and evening haunts on your doorstep.
It's worth noting that the hotel does not accept children under the age of 11.
Breakfast is served but there are also some lovely bakeries nearby if you fancy heading out to break your fast. While there is no restaurant on site, there is a small bar that is open until midnight, and plenty of gourmet hole-in-the-walls in the surrounding area.
‘Quirky’ just about sums up the 31 rooms at Chic & Basic; from floor-to-ceiling hangings to open plan bathrooms, each room brings something different. It's worth noting that some of the cheaper rooms are interior-facing, without windows so, if you’re big on natural light, we’d recommend upgrading. You might even bag yourself a balcony.
The arty and trendy Born district is packed full of fun bars, restaurants and shops. Bikes are available for hire from the hotel, but even without a pair of wheels you’re well-placed to explore, with La Rambla just a 10-minute walk away and the beach just 20 minutes away.
