The Bohemian Place is a quirky and laid-back hideaway in northern Portugal. This Chic Retreat is located in the town of Aveiro, which is known for its beautiful architecture and maritime heritage.
The hotel was opened by two friends, Salome and Silvia, who envisioned a unique and luxurious place for travellers to stay. Today, the hotel is just that. Each of the 17 rooms have been individually decorated and are rich in colourful charm. Soak up the city views from the panoramic terrace, which comes complete with a Jacuzzi for you to relax in.
In keeping with its friendly and bohemian charm, pets are welcome at the hotel.
Aveiro is known for its seafood. The Fish Market Square is filled with delicious catches, freshly caught and locally sourced. The stewed and fried eel are incredible, as are the cod and lamprey dishes. For a wonderful sit-down seafood meal, head over to Salpoente (Cais de São Roque 83) for mouthwatering fish that is fresh off the fishing boats.
Breakfast is available for guests, serving a cold spread including tasty meats, cheeses, cakes and fresh fruit. There is also a bar on-site, which is perfect for an evening drink.
With a barefoot chic vibe, the 17 rooms at The Bohemian Place are simple, yet stylish and all of them benefit from complimentary WiFi. Many of the rooms have Queen-size beds that can be made into twins. Some also have balconies, allowing lovely views across the city and making the most of the light.
Set in the heart of the city, The Bohemian Place is the ideal boutique hotel if you're wanting to explore Aveiro. Its fantastic location means that there is no need for public transport, so you can wander around the beautiful streets on foot (just make sure to bring some comfortable shoes!).
The hotel also offers bike hire, so you can explore the city at your own pace. Within the city, we highly recommend visiting the Mosteiro de Jesus, the city's 16th-century convent. Now it serves as a museum containing beautiful local handicrafts.
If you wish to venture further, then hire a car and head to Porto for the day. You can also head to the Costa Nova beach, which is only 15 minutes away.
How to get there
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Aveiro train station.
Porto Airport is a 45 minute drive from the hotel (Approximately 60km distance).
