Housed in a classical 19th-century building, The College Hotel is a great place to base yourself for your stay in Amsterdam. A seamless blend of old and new, the interiors are kitted out with grand staircases, exposed brickwork and slick furnishings, creating a wonderfully lavish atmosphere.
In keeping with the name, you can expect a few young faces here. The hotel acts as a training ground for specially selected students who are keen to make their name in the hotel industry. As a result, you can expect unfailingly warm, friendly and helpful service throughout your stay.
Breakfast is served on the terrace in good weather. Later in the day, head to Ferilli’s bar for a handcrafted cocktail or glass of wine, before tucking into a dish at Ferilli’s restaurant, which serves Italian classics using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
There are 40 rooms at the hotel which are decked out with slick furnishings, comfy beds and modern bathrooms. Décor is made up of cool grey hues and browns, with the odd splash of bright colours dotted throughout. It’s worth noting that some rooms are suitable for those with limited mobility - please arrange with the hotel ahead of arrival.
Explore like a local and hop on a bike or scooter which are available to rent from the hotel. After all that exercise, book in for one of the relaxing in-room massages on offer. Alternatively, head to the lobby and curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book.
Outside of the hotel, you’ll find much to keep you occupied. Located on Roelof Hartplein in Amsterdam-Zuid, you’re just around the corner from the fashionable De Pijp neighbourhood, where you’ll find a plethora of trendy shops and eateries. If it’s a bit of culture you’re after, you’re just a stroll away from the Museumplein where the Concertgebouw, Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum await.
