Set in a redbrick 19th-century building, the traditional exterior belies a sleek and contemporary boutique hotel within. Step into the lobby and you’ll be greeted with the stylishly renovated interiors; from panelled walls and plush armchairs to contemporary furnishings and textured fabrics. Rooms are spread over five floors and are accessed by the elegant spiralling staircase.
You’ll be taken good care of here, with staff who are more than happy to share their local recommendations on what to see and where to eat. Located amidst the shops and restaurants in Amsterdam’s trendy Oud West neighbourhood, the hotel is a great pick for city-explorers, foodies and shopping-fiends alike.
Head to the stylish Living area for some delicious Mediterranean fare and a range of comforting classics. While there is no bar per se, the restaurant serves an array of Dutch beers and good wines, which can be enjoyed throughout the hotel. A cooked-to-order breakfast is also served in the mornings.
There are 31 rooms at this Chic Retreat, which feature an attractive mix of minimalist and retro styles along with views over the city or hotel garden. Some rooms come with the added treat of a French balcony.
In the summer months, the hotel’s private garden is the perfect spot to retreat to with a chilled beer, while in the winter months you can cosy up by the fireplace with a book.
Outside of the hotel, you’ll find the Vondelpark on your doorstep, or a short wander will take you to the city’s famous Museum Quarter. If you don’t fancy the walk, there is a tram stop close to the hotel to whisk you away.
