6-room boutique hotel Cuatre Finques is one of the best of its kind in Spain. Located in the beautiful Xalo valley, Xalo is a small unspoilt village that spreads between the Sierra de la Solana and the Sierra de Bernia, on the boundary of the Marina Baixa on the Costa Blanca. This is where you can find the charming Cuatre Finques surrounded by mountains and vineyards.
In the owner Nicky's words "To define Cuatre Finques is not easy! Our goal is not to be a boutique hotel, Casa Rural, or Bed and Breakfast. Beyond the meaning of individual words - a rural retreat in Spain with friendliness that is familiar, but with professionalism, and an ambiance that makes you unwind the moment you arrive and allows you to feel totally relaxed by the time you leave".
The village of Xalo, next to the river Xalo, hosts one of the most popular antique markets of the Costa Blanca on Saturdays and is well worth a visit as it is just 800m from Cuatre Finques. Why not try a vintage-inspired picnic under one of the almond trees with an ice cold drink, or enjoy wine tasting on the terrace with or without tapas. Xalo has fiestas throughout the year with various activities including bull running, processions, wine tasting, fun runs, giant paellas and partying until the sun comes up. Pep is an experienced paraglider and qualified tandem pilot. If you are in need of some exhilaration Pep can arrange for you to take to the skies to experience the most amazing feeling of flying and for the best views around. There are 6 mountain bikes at Cuatre Finques for you to use (free of charge) to explore the many great mountain tracks or if you prefer something a little less challenging there are lots of flat routes through the stunning Xalo Valley grape vines. A good friend of Cuatre Finques, Jaime, is a qualified golf coach with connections to the best golf courses around and can arrange bookings and lessons. Try the old town of Altea for some wonderful boutiques or Denia's Marques de Campo for a true Spanish shopping experience stopping for a coffee & cake or wine & tapas along the way. Beach-lovers won't be disappointed as some of the loveliest sandy beaches are within a 20 minute drive. With a little bit of notice spa treatments can be arranged for you under an almond tree or in the comfort of your own room. A Petanca court, children’s sand pit, and open air massage area have also recently been added. As a family-run business, Cuatre Finques welcomes visiting families, and children will be kept well entertained with a sand pit, baby swing and play areas in the nearby town. Babysitting can be arranged as can baby milk, bottles, toys and nappies.
Eating and drinking in Spain is very much part of the holiday experience whether it be the paellas, tapas, fresh fish or the lovely local wines and sangria.
Food and drink at Cuatre Finques is locally sourced, mostly grown on the surrounding land, and freshly prepared. There is an honesty bar with drinks and many fresh ingredients from which guests can put together their own light lunch. This could include fresh sandwiches on crusty bread or platters of ham, cheese, salad and veg from the grill. Evening meals are available twice a week in 2017 and could take the form of tapas, paella or a BBQ. Smaller portions and simpler dishes can be arranged for children.
