About this Chic Retreat
Windermere Suites is a small luxury b&b in the romantic Lake District, Cumbria. The 8 spacious suites have a glamorous contemporary style, with designer furnishings, luxurious finishings and some of the best bathrooms we've found, all with double-ended air baths (giving a deep, relaxing massage) and chromatherapy mood lighting. A short walk to Lake Windermere, and some of Cumbria's prettiest villages, this is the perfect retreat for lovers or wandering romantics who want to relax in ultimate comfort and peace. The gorgeous suites and majestic surroundings drew Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon and their crew to film there.
Accommodation
Each of the 8 Windermere Suites are named after a town or village in the Lake District from Keswick to Grasmere and all are individually-styled with designer furniture and luxurious comforts including large wall-mounted Satellite TVs, iPod docking stations, designer crystal lighting and most have super-king-size hand-crafted beds such as the Bowness Suite's gorgeous silver-leaf Frank Hudson bed. The bathrooms are just as luxurious as the rooms with oversize double-ended air baths, showers with LED showerheads, LED taps, bathroom mirror TVs, under-floor heating and Chromotherapy mood ambience lighting. Some of the suites have private terraces or balconies and The Coniston Suite, the most spacious at 460 sq feet, has a 350 sq foot private terrace. For a romantic evening in, enjoy a bottle of wine from the minibar by the fibre optic fire in The Coniston's cosy lounge.
Activities
Windermere Suites is perfectly placed to explore the Lake District, with Lake Windermere just a short walk away. The area is great for walks, sailing can be arranged on the lakes, and to take in the view, try a hot air balloon ride. After you've built up an appetite, head to Windermere Village, just 2 minutes' walk away or Bowness, with its selection of restaurants, pubs, bistros and bars and some great shops to pick up your Cumbrian souvenirs. Beatrix Potter fans can explore the places that inspired her wonderful books and illustrations. There is a gallery dedicated to her work in Hawkshead and you can visit her former home on Hill Top, near Sawrey. Garden enthusiasts can take a trip to Sizergh Castle & Garden near Kendal and Holker Hall, Gardens & Lakeland Motor Museum and there are many more wildlife parks, museums and galleries dedicated to the natural beauty of the lakes and the artists who were drawn to this romantic corner of England. Visit the suites' namesakes, Keswick, Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Coniston, Cartmel and Patterdale and take in the wonderful views. For golf, the nearest course is Windermere, 1 mile away and tennis is available close by. Guests of Windermere Suites can also enjoy complimentary access to a local private luxury spa.
Dining
Start the day with a hearty Cumbrian platter breakfast with eggs to-order, braised mushrooms, roast tomatoes, oven sauté potatoes, bacon and Cumberland sausages - meat or vegetarian served on pretty Villeroy Boch china. The cold table includes a selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and juices, all served in the comfort of your own suite so you can enjoy your breakfast in peace. There is a good room-service snack menu and your hosts can recommend a variety of restaurants within walking distance of this small boutique hotel, many of whom offer good rates for Windermere Suites guests. A complimentary limo service can be arranged to & from the Michelin-starred Holbeck Ghyll for lunch of dinner.
Rates
Rates at Windermere Suites are per suite per night and include a Cumbrian cooked breakfast and a large selection of other breakfast choices and VAT. Single occupance is subject to a 25% discount from the double rate from Sunday to Thursday inclusive. This discount does not apply to Fridays, Saturdays or bank holidays although this may not apply during low season. A GBP 50 non-refundable deposit is required per person to confirm bookings (GBP 100 pp at Christmas, New Year and bank holidays). The balance is due on departure. Children can be accommodated in 3 of the suites on a Z bed at a charge of GBP B&B for those aged 2-16 with 1 bed max per room. There is 1 travel cot available free of charge if guests bring their own linen.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to arrival (28 days at Christmas and New Year) will be charged the balance of the cost of the stay. For cancellations made more than 7 days prior to arrival, the deposit is non-refundable, but the deposit can be used against a future stay if agreed by the management. Early departures will be charged the full cost of the stay as booked. However, for cancellations made under 7 days for valid and unforseen reasons, Windermere Suites will refund the amount re-let minus any agents commissions and other fees incurred as a credit against a future stay. Cancellations within 7 days of a pre-paid reservation e.g. a gift of accommodation, where the room is re-let, will be given credit towards a further booking.
