With breathtaking mountain views, La Cabriere Country House enjoys one of the best positions in the valley, only a 6 minute walk from the heart of the very pretty Franschhoek village, where many of its world class restaurants are to be found . This privately owned and managed boutique B&B effortlessly combines comfort and style to create an unforgettable experience in a magnificent setting. Mark and Katie take a sincere interest in the needs of their guests and happily offer advice, affording visitors the opportunity to experience the best Franschhoek has to offer. From restaurant reservations to advice on wine routes and other activities, they leave nothing to chance to personally ensure a relaxing and memorable stay.
There are a number of activities available; Franschhoek is only an hour from the centre of Cape Town, making it an accessible base from which to explore the Cape, and there is no need to limit your activities to the winelands. Other activities available in an around Franschhoek include: hot air-ballooning, golfing, horse-riding and cycling. There are also some lovely hiking trails in Franschhoek. Further afield one can experience: shark cage diving, whale-watching, quad-biking and helicopter tours.
As well as their famous breakfasts, afternoon tea and cake is served daily and most dietary requirements are catered for. Franschhoek is famous for its world-class restaurants. La Cabriere Country House has a comprehensive restaurant guide which they will provide you with on confirmation of your reservation. Let them know your preferences and they will organise the reservations for you.
Along with fine-dining, wine-tasting is obviously one of the most popular activities in Franschhoek. This can be done with an organised tour-operator (half or full-day wine tours). Alternatively guests can wine-taste on horseback, or even on a rented bicycle or drive around with a map and advice that Mark and Katie can provide.
La Cabriere has recently started its own cookery school (and offers packages comprising accomodation and courses), headed by renowned Bouillabaisse chef Camil Haas and his wife Ingrid. Further information can be requested from the hotel.
All of the 6 rooms are individually decorated with antique furniture, and all include:
En-suite bathroom with bath and shower Hairdryer & shaving plug-points Luxurious rooibos skin products Luxurious bath gowns Extra large and soft bath & pool towels Pure cotton soft sheets Television (including satellite channels) WIFI
DELUXE The 3 'Deluxe' rooms are located in the detached poolside cottage, which is approximately 50 metres from the main house. This cottage is also where breakfast is served (on the main terrace in the Summer, or in the dining room on chillier mornings). These air-conditioned rooms, with their queen-sized beds, are the most luxurious, as they each have a private terrace from which to enjoy the outstanding views, the pool and gardens. Also unique to these rooms are the open fireplaces, always stocked with firewood for those cosy winter evenings in Franschhoek.
SUPERIOR The 2 'Superior' rooms are attached to the main house with their own separate entrances. These air-conditioned rooms have beautiful views of the mountains, as well as the manicured lawns & gardens to the front of the property. There is a small terrace that these rooms share - an ideal spot from which to watch the sun set whilst sipping on a glass of wine. These 2 rooms differ slightly from one another; one of them has a queen-sized bed, whilst the other has the option of being made up as a king- sized bed OR as twin beds.
STANDARD The Standard room is the largest room, with the largest bathroom, and separate kitchen area. (Although it is not a self-catering room). This room is also attached to the main house with its own separate entrance. There is no view from the room itself. Due to the fact it is spacious and more private, this room is ideal for families with young children. This room can be made up with a king-sized bed or with twin beds, and is large enough for the queen-sized blow-up mattress and/ or the cot (available on request).
