Palazzo Victoria - Verona, Italy

About this Chic Retreat

Verona is a romantic city, rich with history and cultural and home to a new luxury hotel Palazzo Victoria.  This beautiful 14h-century palace is located right at the heart of Shakespeare's fair Verona.  Extensive renovations and restoration have revealed ancient frescoes and Roman walls bringing the story of the building to life.  The interiors are a blend of classic contemporary and traditional creating an elegant and refined style.  Palazzo Victoria is just a few steps away from the Arena amphitheatre and close to Corso di Porta Borsari buzzing with restaurants, bars and shops.  Larger than our normal Chic Retreat, Palazzo Victoria has been chosen to be our first luxury hotel in Verona as we believe that the personal service and character they have to offer is like no other in the city.

Accommodation

Palazzo Victoria was bought by Veronese Marcello Pigozzo in 2011 who also owns sister luxury hotel Il Salviatino just outside Florence. The stunning rooms and suites are very spacious and individually decorated with local materials and fabrics highlighting the traditions of the area.   Some of them feature original frescoes and traditional parquet flooring with romantic views, and others overlook the vibrant neighbourhood.

Activities

Verona has become one of Italy's most vibrant cities filled with art galleries, exhibitions, trendy restaurants and cafes. The city itself is full of plenty of things to do and see including a visit to Shakespeare's Juliet's house. The Arena amphitheatre is definitely worth a visit and is one of the most beautiful operatic and concert venues. Verona is home to Castelvecchio, one of the most imporant medieval castles in Europe. Venture a little further afield to Lake Garda which is surrounded by beautiful scenery as well as a great selection of thermal spas.

Dining

Freshly-made parma ham paninis or a three course lunch can be enjoyed at the new Brasserie of Palazzo Victoria on Corso Porta Borsari. Open all day long, the menu changes every day and offers a contemporary take on a selection of authentic regional dishes and traditional Italian cuisine.  Michelin starred Chef, Carmine Caló ensures that only the best of the best is served.
