About this Chic Retreat

Lille Ulefos is a gorgeous boutique hotel in Telemark, Norway. Traditional elegance is given a modern twist in this stunning house, formerly the managers house for the Ulefos main mansion. "Little Ulefos" was designed to copy the main residence with its Palladio inspired Empire architecture and distinctive copola, one of the most important works of architecture from this time in Norway.

This enchanting chic retreat has been renovated externally and internally reflects the passion of the owners Anemone Wille Våge and Per Ove Bakke who run interior design and real estate companies. Ulefos, along the famous Telemark canal, is a relaxing bolthole from which to explore the beauty of the Nome region.

Accommodation

Lille Ulefos has 20 rooms, from suites and apartments to double and single rooms, each individually styled under the expert guidance of Anemone. Fabrics and wallpapers use prints combining modern designs and colours with a traditional elegant style and luxurious curtains hang over the large windows. Every detail has been thought of and colour schemes and furnishings blend together to create an exquisite finish. All rooms have luxurious goose feather quilts and pillows and half of the rooms have TV & DVD players with a large selection of films available. The bathrooms have under-floor heating and are kitted out with gorgous L'Occitane products.

Activities

With 13,000 sq metres of gardens and orchards, Lille Ulefos is a peaceful place for long relaxing walks and there are plenty of quiet spots to sit and read or take in the fresh country air. There is an art gallery just 7 minutes away and the tennis courts are open to all guests.

Bicycles can be rented and the national cycle path goes right through the estate, the woods and along the canal. This historic waterway was completed in 1892 and a cruise on the original passengerboat will give a good view of the impressive scenery.

For more energetic guests, kayaks and canoes can be hired out for a paddle along the canal. Fishing & hunting can be pursued locally and there is a shooting range nearby and golf enthusiasts can take a day trip to the Norsjø golf course. With such beautiful surroundings, the area is also great for hiking and running.

Dining

Lille Ulefos provides a breakfast buffet served underneath a charming chandelier made of cutlery! Dining areas are spectacular with gorgeous print wallpapers using an elegant & classy palette. Lille Ulefos runs on a high standard B&B basis, but private renters can order personal service.

Just down from the Ulefoss canal lock is the Lille Ulefos summer restaurant, Sluemesteren, which is open from May to September.

Rates at Lille Ulefos are per room per night and do not include breakfast which is charged at NOK 150 per person and with a waitor, NOK 175 per person.
