About this Chic Retreat
Surrounded by woods, vineyards and olive groves, La Locanda is a charming country house hotel that overlooks the medieval village of Volpaia. The former stables have been restored into an inviting sitting room with large open fire, library with bar & dining room which leads onto a sunny terrace.
Accommodation
The 6 en-suite rooms and suite are all in the main house and the owners have cleverly decorated them in a chic, comfortable & relaxed style ensuring that the atmosphere of a private house is felt throughout.
Activities
The swimming pool enjoys the same stunning views as the house and the outdoor terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a bottle of Chianti. La Locanda is located in the middle of the best Chianti Classico extra virgin olive oil producing area, where most of the cellars are available for wine tasting and tours of the production. Florence, Siena, Arezzo and San Gimignano are all nearby and places that should definitely be visited. Florence is full of wonderful galleries and museums but also some great markets. The San Lorenzo market which is behind the Duomo is great for belts and bags and the food market which starts very early has some fantastic Italian delicacies on sale including fresh Porcini mushrooms, Truffles, pastas, olive oils and hams. Alongside the San Lorenzo market are some great leather shops selling beautiful handmade bags and wallets. Many walking tracks start from La Locanda - the shortest leads to the Volpaia hamlet through woods and vineyards, just 20 minutes walk. Guido and Martina are always available to provide their guests with suggestions and recommendations.
Dining
Tuscan specialities are served for dinner on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (please book!) and and a tasteful apperitivo is offered daily at 7 pm on the terrace or in the living room. BBQs and other events often take place on a Saturday evening. Lunch is not served at La Locanda but Guido and Martina have plenty of recommendations nearby.
Rates
Rates are per room per night including breakfast and taxes. Dinner is EUR 35 per head and is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Cancellation policy
- Up to 2 weeks prior to arrival date – no charge.
- Between 2 and 1 week – 50% of the value of the booking will be charged.
- Less than 1 week – no refund.
