About this Chic Retreat

Castello Banfi il Borgo is a small luxury hotel on the Mariani family's award-winning vineyard and winery near Montalcino in the Brunello region of Tuscany. Set on a 7,100 acre estate, the former workers' quarters attached to the castle have been stylishly adorned with classic Tuscan furniture, fabrics and finery, wonderfully-appointed against the original features of terracotta floors, arches and wood-beamed ceilings. Outside, guests can enjoy a glass of Banfi's finest wine by the outdoor pool, overlooking the vineyards and for dinner, visit the estates restaurants, La Taverna, located in the vaulted cellars which serves delicious traditional Tuscan cuisines alongside, of course, a superb wine list. In addition, wines and regional produce can be enjoyed in the on-site Enoteca-Wine Bar.

To further indulge, take a luxurious in-room ayurveda massage incorporating the nutrient-rich Sangiovese grapes used in the estates wine-production, or visit one of the nearby luxury spas. The historical castle itself hosts a museum and there are plenty of historical and cultural sites in the nearby area for those who want to learn more about this fertile region. The expert concierge can arrange anything, from visits to local towns and vineyards to cycling, shopping trips and cookery classes, great for a romantic weekend or a family tour of Tuscany.

Accommodation

There are 14 individually-decorated rooms & suites at Castello Banfi il Borgo, designed by renowned Italian stylist, Federico Forquet and the Mariani family, in a chic, traditional Tuscan style which fits well with the original features of these 18th-century buildings. All rooms have king-size beds some of which can be separated into twins, all fitted with luxurious bed linens, cashmere bed covers and goose down pillows. In addition, the 5 suites have queen-size sofa beds in the living rooms. The en-suite bathrooms have large rainshowers while some also have bathtubs, heated towels rails, luxurious bath products made from the estate's Sangiovese grapes, towels, bathrobes, slippers & professional hairdryers. In the rooms, you will find a well-stocked mini-bar, a selection of complimentary Castello Banfi il Borgo wines, flat screen Satellite TVs and complimentary WiFi.

Activities

Tuscany is famous for its food and wine, and guests can enjoy cookery classes and wine-tastings to further discover the flavours of the region. Visit the surrounding vineyards by bike or on a wine tour, and enjoy a trip around Banfi's own cellars and vineyard which produces some of the Italy's finest wines, while the castle's museum of wine and glass explores the history of this superb estate. Further afield, the concierge can arrange excursions to other vineyards and wineries, as well as tours of the nearby hill-top towns, shopping trips, limousine and other rental services, or for real car enthusiasts, Ferrari rentals. Golf enthusiasts can have a tailor-made golf itinerary drawn up, to make sure they get the most out of the regions' courses, with the nearest just over an hour's drive away. Banfi il Borgo also has a small fitness area with Technogym equipment. Whatever you want to do in Tuscany, the friendly staff are here to help, while for those who want to simply lie back and relax, spend the day by the outdoor pool with a good book, before an in-room massage or spa treatment or a visit to one of the wonderful local spas and therapeutic baths.

Dining

La Taverna serves traditional Tuscan dishes in Castello Banfi il Borgo's vaulted cellars, formerly used for wine casks and now lined with sturdy wooden tables where guests can enjoy 3 to 5-course tasting menus or choose from the a la carte menu, all served with a wonderful list of wines. The Enoteca-Wine Bar serves wines from the estate with an optional plate of regional bread, cheese and salami. You can also buy a selection of locally-produced pastas, olive oils and balsamic vinegar (as well as ceramics, wools, soaps, wine glasses and books) from this shop-style bar. For breakfast, enjoy an a la carte Tuscan breakfast with eggs to order.

Rates

Rates at Castello Banfi il Borgo are per room per night based on 2 people sharing and include Tuscan à la Carte breakfast and service. An additional 10% VAT will be added. Single occupancy rates are available at a reduced rate. Upon arrival, the guest room bar is stocked with a complimentary selection of Banfi wines. Children are complimentary up to 12 years when sleeping in a room with 2 adults. 3rd beds can be provided in Double Room Riserva and in the Suites at EUR 100 + VAT per night. Credit card information or advance payment is required to confirm booking depending on the length of stay.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations of a confirmed and guaranteed or prepaid booking will be charged from a minimum of 1 night to a maximum of 3 nights cancellation fee unless cancellation notice is received at least 30 days prior to arrival. The same policy applies for no shows or early departures.
