Ca Marcello

Ca'Marcello is a magnificent 16th-century villa built by the Marcello family, one of the most influential noble Venetian families. Count Vettor Marcello lives in this Palladian villa, situated between Venice, Treviso and Padua, with his family who are now opening the Barchessa Apartment which can be found in left arcaded wing of the villa for those who wish to experience this refined splendour. Sleeping up to 8 guests the air-conditioned apartment is fully-equpped and has its own garden, pool and outside dining area and BBQ. It is a privilege and wonderful experience to be able to stay in one of Veneto's most prestigious villas and rarer still that such a villa is still in the same family that built it hundreds of years ago.

Not far from the main building and the apartment there is a garden reserved for guests only, which hides a 9m swimming pool surrounded by a pretty garden of roses, hydrangeas and oleanders. Guests can also take advantage of the BBQ, dining area, deck chairs and changing room with pool towels. Boys can run around on the football field which is inside the park and guests also have the use of 3 mountain bikes during their stay. The villa itself is surrounded by 18 acres of private parkland filled with ancient trees and plants.

There are plenty of cultural sites and cities to visit within easy reach of Ca'Marcello and the Marcello family are happy to help with any suggestions or itineraries. Venice is only 35 minutes away and makes the perfect day out and nearby Asolo and Bassano, two charming medieval towns were favourites of Ernest Hemingway. For some local wine tasting and shopping head to Treviso, 20 minutes away, a medieval town rich in ancient buildings, history and culture. Padua is a little further (40 minutes) but is home to Giotto's frescoes and the Basilica del Santo and so an absolute 'must' during your stay.  Of course a stay wouldn't be the same without the privilege of a private tour of the villa itself, given by the owner and finished off by an aperitivo with the owner and his family.

For the active, there is tennis, golf and horse riding nearby and the park is the perfect place for an early morning jog.

Guests can cook for themselves in the fully-equipped kitchen or the owners can arrange for a private chef to serve lunch or dinner in the dining room or garden.
