About this Chic Retreat
Hotel San Roque is a boutique hotel which nestles in the lush northwest coast of Tenerife. Set against the backdrop of the Teno mountains on a coast washed by the powerful, deep-blue Atlantic swell, is the village and Port of Garachico. These pretty narrow streets play home to this peaceful hideaway. After very careful restoration this 17th-century mansion now stands proud once again as a haven of calm and hospitality with 20 gorgeous rooms. Hotel San Roque is a truly individual designer hotel with a sense of tradition and understated elegance. Beautiful colour-washed walls, gleaming floorboards and pitched wooden ceilings provide the perfect canvas to show off this chic hotel's contemporary furnishings and eclectic art and furniture collection. The San Roque also offers a variety of works created by famous Bahaus designers, such as Le Corbusier, Eileen Grey and Charles Macintosh. Dominique & Laly, the welcoming owners, have a wealth of information about the island and are happy to recommend and organise trips and activities and guests will feel completely at home with the helpful team of staff.
Accommodation
Each of 20 air-conditioned rooms (4 suites) in this small luxury hotel are arranged about two courtyards offering luxurious accommodation, complete with fabulous bathrooms with Jacuzzi bathtubs. Fluffy bathrobes and slippers are provided and each room has satellite TV and a CD player, with a selection of videos and CDs available from reception.
Activities
Contrasting with the black volcanic sand beaches and basaltic cliffs of the coast is the laurelwood forest of the Monte del Agua, the surroundings in which this boutique hotel offers a range of activities to its guests. The small luxury hotel has a swimming pool , sauna, tennis court just 100 metres away and the Buenavista Golf course at 8 kms and your hosts provide complimentary use of fishing rods and mountain bikes to explore the surrounding countryside. The rocky coastline around Garachico is perfect for angling and there is plenty to discover in the town, from the 16th-century seafront castle to the Museum of Contemporary Art, housed in an old convent. For good shopping, take a drive along the mountainous roads to Icod or La Oratova.
Dining
This boutique hotel runs its own restaurant with a first-class wine cellar exclusively open to hotel guests. The courtyard provides a romantic setting for breakfast or dinner by candlelight and the pool is the perfect place for a light lunch. Breakfast is particularly good, and the staff will be happy to take any extra requests. Garachico has some great restaurants with seafood on the menu.
