The Red Feather Inn - Tasmania, Australia
About this Chic Retreat
The Red Feather Inn is an historical small luxury hotel in Hadspen, close to Australia's third oldest city, Launceston. Built circa 1842 to the designs of colonial Georgian architect John Sprunt using convict labour, this was one of Tasmania's first coaching inns. The interior of this small luxury hotel with its beautiful sandstone exterior and large gardens has been lovingly reinvented by owner Lydia Nettlefold who has imbued it with French provincial charm with her keen eye for detail & style. Fabrics, furniture and curios blend together to create a wonderful rustic feel and coupled with the inviting gourmet inn house meals, this small boutique hotel of just 5 rooms & suites has a charming home away from home ambiance.
Accommodation
The Red Feather Inn has 2 two-room suites with kitchenettes & 3 ensuite rooms. Each suite features two fireplaces, a separate kitchenette/sitting room, a fold out bed which sleeps two and two flat screen TVs with DVD players. The Library Suite has a warm palette with elegant antique furniture, woven coir mats and the option of a king size or twin beds. The Garden Suite with its stunning convict made exposed sandstone wall is situated over two levels with the sitting room/kitchenette on the ground floor and a queen-size bed and ensuite upstairs. Easy access to the garden is made through an additional entrance.
The Attic Room has a Nordic flavour and king-size bed covered in beautifully designed floral sheets. The Loft, part of the restored stable & barn building, is graced by a large Willow tree at its entrance. The delightful room with its calming grey-blue colour scheme is split-level with the queen-size bed upstairs and overlooks the lush garden. The cosy Red Feather Room has a queen-size bed, a gorgeous light-filled bathroom and internal access to the Garden Suite if required. The only difficulty will be choosing between them.
All rooms are beautifully appointed and boast sandstone features, large free-standing baths & showers with Molton Brown toiletries, luxurious bathrobes, fridges and tea & coffee facilities.
