Hotel Ermitage - Swiss Alps, Switzerland

About this Chic Retreat

Hotel Ermitage is a small luxury hotel in Chateau d'Oex. This chic retreat has recently undergone a refurbishment offering a bold take on Swiss country style with tactile materials, antique furnishings, contemporary fittings and elegant chandeliers throughout. Situated between Gruyères and Gstaad, Chateau d'Oex is a charming Alpine village and guests can enjoy skiing, country walks, cycling and horse-riding before returning to the hotel for dinner at the gourmet restaurant, headed by Tony Jocqué who has created an original menu based on authentic Swiss cuisine.

Accommodation

Hotel Ermitage has just 12 rooms and suites, each with a cosy style mixing chic fabrics with contemporary designs and antique furniture with hip modern pieces. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms whilst the suites have the luxurious addition of Jacuzzi baths and the added space of an ajoining living room. Each room has a balcony, individual temperature control, complimentary WiFi and an LCD flat screen TV with DVD player. There are family-sized rooms available with two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom.

Activities

The Pays d'Enhaut is in a gorgeous Alpine location and there are a range of activities on offer depending on the season. Chateau d'Oex is the hot-air balloon capital of the world due to its microclimate and a balloon ride is a great way to take in the breathtaking mountain views. Every January, an international balloon competition takes place, a stunning event where 100s of balloons fill the skies above the village. In summer, the area is great for walks and hikes, particularly in La Pierreuse, the biggest nature conservation area in western Switzerland. The natural surroundings are perfect for the adventurous who can go mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, canyoning, hydrospeeding and river rafting. In the winter ski season, guests can visit La Braye in Chateau d'Oex and the nearby Gstaad ski area which comprises over 250km of ski runs for all levels. Cross country skiers can visit La Lécherette. However, you may wish to simply snuggle down in the lounges with their cushion-filled sofas and country chic style and enjoy a hot chocolate.

Dining

Hotel Ermitage has a great restaurant with an original take on traditional cuisine devised by executive chef Tony Jocqué. Enjoy dinner in the romantic restaurant, out on the terrace looking out to the mountains or in the room. Every morning, enjoy a rustic breakfast with fresh milk, bread straight from the oven, freshly brewed coffee and orange juice. In the evening you can enjoy the candle-lit ambiance of our lounges where your hosts will be pleased to serve you a wide variety of drinks.
