Crown Inn - Suffolk, England

About this Chic Retreat

The Crown Inn which enjoys wonderful views across the Suffolk countryside in the centre of the charming village of Stoke by Nayland. This historical inn was totally renovated in November 2003 as a pub/restaurant establishment and soon after re-opening became an instant hit across East Anglia. With the addition of 11 contemporary rooms in 2008 The Crown is now one of the best inns in the UK and makes the perfect weekend or mid-week escape.

Accommodation

The 11 en-suite rooms at The Crown Inn were added in 2008 and overlook the pretty Suffolk countryside of the surrounding Dedham Vale, now a dedicate area of natural beauty. The rooms on the ground floor are contemporary in design with bespoke wooden beds and furniture whilst the rooms on the first floor are a mix of contemporary and country style featuring large iron beds and pretty wallpapers. All of the bathrooms are white and very spacious with lovely French products - not all have baths, but those that don't have enormous walk-in Matki showers. There is one room which has disabled access and facilies with a level wet room. Our favourite is deluxe room number 106 - with views towards the back and its own little outside area, it is very private and very quiet. All rooms have WIFI, mini-bar and Plasma TV & DVD Player.

Activities

Stoke by Nayland sits on the Suffok/Essex border, surrounded by landscape that inspired the 18th-century artist John Constable. The medieval village of Lavenham is close by and there are some lovely places to visit in the area.

Dining

The passion for good quality delicious food made from locally-sourced ingredients is evident in every dish served at this boutique inn. Add to that real ale and an excellent wine list and the formula is pretty hard to beat. During winter months there is a lovely log fire burning throughout the day and in the warmer months guests can enjoy a drink or lunch on the terrace. The service at The Crown Inn is excellent and the atmosphere so relaxed and inviting that you could soon find a quick lunch turning into a long one! A beautifully presented full English breakast is included in the rate and is served from as early as 7.30am for those needing to make an early start.
