Guests can enjoy a scenic walk to the top of one of Glomset's mountains called Hautua with a magnificent view over the village, Storfjorden, Skodje and the Sunnmøre Alps and far beyond. Storfjord Hotel is handbuilt by skilled craftsmen using traditional Lafta (cross logging with whole timbers), this way of building has been part of Norway's culture for hundreds of years and houses and small luxury hotels still stand today after many generations.
Touring from Storfjord Hotel is stunning and dramatic in all directions with Aalesund to the west and the dramatic scenery of the fjords and mountains to the east. Storfjorden is the main fjord that connects with Geirangerfjord and Hjørundfjord UNESCO's Heritage Sites. From Magerholm 10 minutes away are excursions to both fjords. The local mountain walks are suitable for everyone, or for the more adventurous take a ferry crossing to the high rugged mountains of the Sunnmøre Alps where you can walk to a great altitude with views over the counties and deep fjords. Golf is just 10 minutes away by car.
Dinner is served in the timbered hall and drinks can be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere on the gallery landing overlooking Glomset Bay, Storfjord and the Alps. A set menu made from local ingredients of the highest quality is prepared by the chef. Meals are planned in advance and any dietry restrictions or vegetarian requests can be catered for.
Storfjord Hotel has 23 spacious rooms and suites all beautifully designed and each with luxury en-suite bathrooms and some with classical four poster beds. The rooms at Storfjord Hotel are contained in three buildings designed in the style of a Norwegian Tun. Each room has a terrace or garden access providing beautiful views and everything is hand crafted.
