About this Chic Retreat
Hotel Su Gologone is the best privately-owned luxury hotel in Sardinia. Surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and mountains this magical Chic Retreat can be found at the foothills of the Supramonte mountains between Oliena and Dorgali. This little oasis originally opened as just a restaurant and has fast become known as one of the best luxury hotels on the island famous for its excellent cuisine, style and legendary service.
Accommodation
Hotel Su Gologone has a great selection of room types available for those looking for utmost privacy and romance, friends travelling together and suites that are perfect for families of four. The en-suite rooms are all different, some with four poster beds, others with large terraces or balconies. Traditional Sardinian decoration has been used throughout this Chic Retreat with white washed walls and splashes of of colours, some more vibrant than others. Antiques and lovely artwork in the rooms create an authentic and relaxed atmosphere and whichever room you choose you won't be disappointed. All of the rooms have satellite TV, minibar, telephone and air-conditioning whilst the suites also have LCD TV, CD player, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobes, scales and some feature a hydro massage bath.
Activities
There is plenty or nothing to do at Hotel Su Gologone. The gardens are home to a springwater swimming pool with a large grass sunbathing area and a gazebo for massages. There is a small fitness area, Jacuzzi and in the grounds there is a tennis court, mini football pitch and mini golf keeping even the little ones amused. Trekking, cycling, trips to the beach and horse riding can all be arranged as can visits to the natural grottoes, ancient tombs and nuragic villages (the nuragic civilization was a Sardinian civilization lasting from the Bronze Age (18th-century BC) to the 2nd century AD) such as in Tiscali, Lanaitho or Gorroppu.
Su Gologone is situated in the middle of the countryside approximately 20 minutes from Oliena, 25 minutes from Nuoro and 1.5 hours south of Olbia. It is about 25 minutes to the east coast and the beautiful beaches at Cala Gonone.
Dining
A large hundred-year-old fireplace, still used to cook suckling pig, is the focal point of the restaurant at Hotel Su Gologone and provides the perfect setting during the cooler evenings. The pretty terrace (for hotel guests only) offers a lovely al fresco alternative with an abundance of cascading flowers. The seasonal menu focuses on fresh local produce, more specifically from the Oliena region. A foodies delight, the restaurant here is the best and most authentic restaurant on Sardinia. Enjoy an aperitivo before dinner at the bar and during the day the poolside gazebo bar serves drinks and snacks with a shaded area and a selection of traditional wooden games.
