The biggest draw to Pousada de Palmela is its commanding hill-top location, from which the city of Palmela and the surrounding countryside can be viewed. Converted from the 500-year-old convent that sits inside the castle walls, this historical retreat makes for a memorable holiday. With the Costa Azul close by, and a wealth of interesting natural & historical sites to visit, the Pousada de Palmela is well-placed for discovering the Lisbon region.

Accommodation

Pousada de Palmela has 5 suites, 1 of which is kingsize, and 23 double rooms. 2 suites have a sea view, 1 has a city view, and 1 looks on to the castle. Rooms are spacious, with comfortable, functional furnishings. All rooms come with air-conditioning, cable TV, mini bar, locker and internet.

Activities

There are family games to keep everyone entertained in the Pousada de Palmela, and although they do not have a swimming pool, there are wonderful beaches just a short drive away. The beautiful surroundings are perfect for country walks, bicycle tours and boat trips, and for those looking for some action, paintballing, karting, canoeing and four-wheel driving are available close by. There is a golf course nearby, and to get great views of the region, take a hot air balloon ride. There are many beautiful natural sites to discover such as the pre-historic Quinta do Anjo caves and the Arrabida National Park, and interesting historical sites such as the Troia Roman ruins and Bacalhoa Palace.

Dining

The speciality menu serves up regional dishes such as stuffed crab, dover sole in a beer marinade, chicken pot stew, and eggs pudding, and there is a fantastic buffet breakfast and lunch. The courtyard is the perfect spot for a drink out in the sun and there is a cosy lounge bar.

Rates

Rates for the Pousada de Palmela are for two people per night. For single occupancy, subtract EUR 12 from the double room rate. The prices presented correspond to the pousada's BAR (Best Available Rate), dynamic rates that vary according to demand/occupancy of the Pousada. These rates are subject to change.
