Surrounded by the breathtaking hills of Cantabria, La Finca del Monasterio is a stunning collection of three small boutique hideaways in the picturesque town of Silio. Nature lovers will be in heaven in this tranquil haven bordering the majestic Canales Mountain in the Iguna Valley and the Saja National Reserve, and if you want to escape to the beach for the day, why not try the finca's very own Camel Beach in nearby Santander. The houses themselves remain loyal to regional architectural styles with a contemporary touch and are perfect for large groups of friends, family explorations of the region or alternatively as a spacious pad for two. Rent the properties exclusively, or in La Posada, bookings can also be made per suite.

Accommodation

There are 3 independent boutique villas at Finca del Monasterio, from the 5-bedroom La Posada and 5-bedroom La Casona de Don Elias, which includes a special children's room, to the one-bedroom La Casuca, with 2 extra beds for small family stays. Stay at La Posada with its 5 double suites, and you can while away the days by the cozy fireplaces in the lounge and dining room, mix up some evening cocktails in the bar or challenge your friends to a game in the play area. Traditional in architecture and with a contemporary touch in the stylish rooms, guests can enjoy views over the orchard home of Finca del Monasterio.

La Casona, former home to Silio's physician, Dr Elias, has a wonderfully traditional feel, with fireplaces, classic glass-enclosed galleries, views to the gardens and surrounding countryside and a lovely kitchen. With 3 doubles and 2 single rooms including a special children's room, this is ideal for a family trip.

For a romantic holiday or small families, Cacusa is ideal, a cosy house in Cantabrian mountain style with one double room, a sofa-bed in the living room and a trundle bed. 

Activities

Nestled between mountains and beaches, La Finca del Monasterio is surrounded by spectacular scenery, perfect for hiking and cycling trips or a day relaxing on the sands of Santander. Or if you prefer colder climbs, head up to the Cantabrian ski range in Alto Campoo, a 40 km trip away. Keen golfers can make the 30 minute trip to the 18-hole Nestares golf range which includes beginner courses and a golf school for the kids. Head to the Saja National Reserve, where free-roaming stags, roe deer and wild boar reside and the rivers are full of trout, salmon and crab. Silio has some wonderful Romanesque architecture while in the surrounding area, there are many villages and towns to explore. For those who want to brush up on their English, the finca can arrange courses during your stay on request.

Dining

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast of breads, eggs, tomatoes and juices. Lunches and dinners can be arranged with delicious local specialties such as the traditional Cantabrian dish Cocido Montanes, and enjoy mussels, fried squid, morcilla, callos, jamon iberico or tortilla depending on the day.

Rates

Rates at Finca del Monasterio are per villa / room per night as specified and include VAT. Children are accepted and children over 2 are charged at EUR 15-20 per night while under 2s stay free of charge. Rates at La Posada also include a special Cantabrian breakfast.

In high season there is no reimbursement (June, July, August, September). Rest of the year: Reimbursement of 30% of the reservation if it is cancelled 3 days prior to arrival.
