Grand Hotel des Bains, a boutique hotel on the coast of Brittany, was built at the beginning of the 20th-century, and its beautiful grounds and private beach were the setting of the famous French comedy: "L'Hotel de la Plage". A world away from crowds, noise and pollution, this traditional boutique spa hotel stands on a small peninsula with stunning sea views. This simple chic hotel is located in the tranquil and picturesque fishing town of Locquirec, bordering on the Finistère and Cote d'Armor regions of Brittany. Excellence of service and delicious food combine with the inspiring location, salt water swimming pool (heated all year) and spa to provide an utterly peaceful atmosphere and an unforgettable holiday year round.

Accommodation

The 30 rooms at Grand Hotel des Bains have been renovated, each with private bathrooms and plasma televisions (CNN is the only English channel), most of which have a mesmerising sea view and a private terrace. The classic New England décor has been featured in a number of French style magazines. The hotel has WIFI access throughout, including in the bedrooms and garden. The view of the sea from the rooms and the hotel park constantly changes with the tide, light, weather and seasons, but is always enchanting. We recommend asking for one of the larger rooms.

Activities

The spacious terrace is a perfect place to watch the boats exploring Locquirec bay. At high tide the sea laps the lime tree alley in the garden, and at low tide the rocks appear and it is possible to cross the bay by foot. The spa (and 18 metre indoor salt water pool) at Grand Hotel des Bains is also open daily, with a range of treatments, including beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures and facials, as well as a full range of massages and thalassotherapy treatments. These focus on the toning and detoxifying properties of algae and mud products. There are a number of sailing and diving schools nearby, including in the town of Locquirec itself. It is also possible to go Sea kayaking and bicycle hire is available in Locquirec. Boat rides to nearby islands can be arranged and horse riding, golf and fishing are all available nearby.

Dining

Grand Hotel des Bains uses the freshest of produce from the owner's nearby farm. As well as a tempting range of delicious patissierie, each day they also offer a "menu minceur" so that you can indulge your taste buds but not your waistline! The hotel's brasserie, in the village, serves some of the best food we have tasted in a long time with the most delicious cider - we ate there every day and would have eaten there every night if we could! Fantastic soups, wonderful salads and delicious puddings and cheese - everything a French restaurant should be! Before or after dinner guests can relax and enjoy a drink in our cosy bar, where each night a crackling open log fire welcomes you. La Brasserie de la Plage - There is also a Brasserie in the harbour where many guests enjoy lunch with a wonderful view of the sea.

Rates

Rates at Grand Hotel des Bains are per room per night based on 2 persons sharing and are half-board rates including dinner. Bed and breakfast rates are available in low season, until June and from September 7 to December 17. Children under 2 years - EUR 20. Children between 2-12 years EUR 67 per day including breakfast. Animals will be charged at EUR 19 per day. Children accepted by prior arrangement.
