With its gallery running along all four sides, the Riyad El Mezouar is a hidden gem. With its sizeable courtyard, a small pool and preserved Arabic-Andalusian architecture, this riad is a rarity (many luxury riads are not preserved in their natural state and with the use of bright colours on every surface don't represent the true style and origins of Marrakech). The structure dates from the 18th-century and has two columned galleries around all four sides giving access to the rooms on the ground floor, as well as those on the first floor, allowing guests to benefit from a magnificent example of the classic architecture of a riad. Through the careful decoration of this intimate riad, the talented and passionate owners have succeeded beautifully in fusing the Eastern and the more sober contemporary styles. Riyad El Mezouar is one of the first riads in Marrakech we ever visited and it manages to combine simplicity with elegance in a very natural way.
