Riad Noir d'Ivoire - Marrakech, Morocco
About this Chic Retreat
Riad Noir d'Ivoire is a small luxury riad in the Marrakech Medina. This luxury boutique hotel offers all the comforts of a home-from-home with a discreet and elegant oriental style. Jill and Jean Michel have only one aim in mind, to provide guests with impeccable service, ultimate comfort and to do everything possible to realise the dreams of clients from the moment they arrive, including having their baggage transported right to the door by "Peanuts" the donkey! Relax by one of the heated pools, take a beauty treatment in the hammam, enjoy a traditional Moroccan or international feast and relax to the soothing sounds of jazz in the lounge bar before retiring to bed in one of 9 stylish rooms & suites.
Accommodation
The riad has 3 master suites, 2 suites, 2 junior suites and 2 double bedrooms, all of which have Satellite TVs, DVD players, WIFI, mini-bars, safes and tadelakt en-suite bathrooms with rain showers or showers & bath tubs. Attention has been paid to every detail throughout the rooms and hotel. The large, comfortable beds are fitted with fine Egyptian cotton bed linen and all the fabrics in the riad have been handwoven using luxurious combinations such as linen and leather. Each suite and room has an original style, incorporating furniture, antiques and objets d'arts in an eclectic range of materials from camel bone to sculpted metal and each of the 4 suites boast working open fireplaces. The Master Suites are simply stunning, in particular the Panther Suite which has a separate study and dressing room, wing chairs and a wonderfully romantic four-poster bed. Its terrace has a large Jacuzzi and a wonderfully decadent double day bed.
Activities
The Riad Noir d'Ivoire beauty treatment room has an alluring scent, exuding traditional Moroccan scents such as Argan oil, rose flower water and orange blossom. Locally-produced bath products are provided for treatments and also in the rooms, including shower gels, shampoos and body creams, perfumed with fig and green tea. You can even buy some to take home with you at the end of your trip from the boutique gift shop which also has a selection of antiques and clothing from around the world. A hammam beldi (traditional steam room) and outdoor massage space is available for use 24 hours a day and there is a full time therapist whose talents include hot stone massage and a sumptuous Japanese massage combined with chocolate tasting!
In the cosy sitting room, furnished in a more European style, there are feather filled sofas and bookcases filled with an international selection of books and glossy magazines. Guests can relax away from the busy streets of Marrakech's medina by the heated courtyard pool edged by sun loungers and chill out on the roof terrace.
This luxurious riad is right in the medina, so within easy reach of the sites and your hosts are happy to arrange excursions further afield. Take a day trip up into the Atlas Mountains visiting Berber villages and shopping in the souks and meet up with a guide to visit the waterfalls. You could even spend a few nights in the desert and take a camel ride through the dunes to admire the spectacular sunsets before returning for a few relaxing days at Riad Noir d'Ivoire.
Dining
Riad Noir d'Ivoire is one of the few luxury riads to have a fully-licensed bar. The restaurant and lounge bar open onto the main courtyard, where you can dine by candlelight or sip an original cocktail, while listening to jazz on the baby grand piano. The restaurant menu is both innovative and creative, proposing both Moroccan and international cuisine for lunch or dinner and the chef is only too happy to organise a dinner a deux on the roof terrace with a spectacular view of the city. To top it all off there is an excellent wine cellar and Club Room, which sets this riad aside from the other Marrakech offerings.
