About this Chic Retreat

Kasbah Bab Ourika is a newly-opened boutique hotel looking over the Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains. Just 45 minutes from Marrakech with its bustling souks & Medina, and at the gateway to the Atlas Mountains, guests can get the best of both worlds, a city break or mountain getaway. In this peaceful spot overlooking the valley, guests can really get away from it all. Enjoy delicious Berber & international cuisine in the restaurant, relax by the outdoor pool and enjoy the sunsets before retiring to one of 15 luxurious rooms & suites.

Traditional Moroccan materials and modern luxuries have been used throughout the rooms and cosy living areas, and the hotel has been constructed from packed earth using Berber building techniques meaning air-conditioning is not needed due to the thick walls and good insulation. With an eye on their environmental impact, Kasbah Bab Ourika use solar panels to heat the water and for the under-floor heating and are soon to fit a bio-digester which will provide methane gas & compost for the hotel and the village below.

Accommodation

There are 15-individually decorated rooms & suites in Kasbah Bab Ourika, all decorated with traditional Moroccan furniture, artwork and materials with luxurious modern additions. Beds can be twins or king-size with a special mattress-system and are fitted with Maison de Blanc Egyptian cotton sheets and plump pillows including some orthopaedic ones to ensure a good night's rest. All rooms have views of the Atlas Mountains and terraces and many of them have sitting areas, fireplaces and private balconies or terraces with outdoor seating or sun loungers. The en-suite tadelakt bathrooms have baths, showers or both and are equipped with bath products, towels & bathrobes. The Superior rooms on the 2nd floor offer particularly spectacular views and have large terrace areas. Deluxe rooms 7 & 8 can connect, great for families or friends, and some rooms have sofa beds which can be converted into an extra bed.

Activities

From this spectacular location, guests at Kasbah Bab Ourika can hike in the Atlas Mountains and around the Salt National Park, and the Kasbah can organise mountain biking, rafting, canyoning and horse riding. Skiing is even an option on the snowy peaks of the High Atlas. Visit the Berber market in Tnine Ourika, a local town, after a hot air balloon & camel ride, or visit the local farms where the raw ingredients for Morocco's famous perfumes are grown. Guests can make the most of the peace and quiet of this boutique hotel, relaxing in the sun by the swimming pool, or take the 45 minute trip to Marrakech to explore the famous Djemaa el Fna square and shop in the souks.

Make the most of the Kasbah's expert guide, Mohammed, who offers a choice of 6 different treks with mules and muleteers to suit all levels of fitness. After a day exploring the hills or Marrakech, guests can relax in the hammam or with a massage before retiring to the many courtyards, lounges or the bar.

Dining

Dinner is served in the romantic restaurant or out on the patio or terraces. Picnic lunches can also be set up in some spectacular locations. The talented chef sources fresh ingredients from the local villages and cooks traditional Berber dishes & international cuisine and guests can enjoy bread from the traditional bread oven & grill on the pergola. Guests can choose from the à la carte menu and accompany the meal with a fine Moroccan wine.

There is a healthy breakfast buffet and guests can order cooked options such as scrambled eggs & omelettes at no extra cost.

Rates at Kasbah Bab Ourika are per room per night and include breakfast & taxes. Extra beds are charged at EUR 30 per bed per night. Children's beds and cots are provided free of charge depending on availability.
