Hotel Les 5 Djellabas is a beautiful boutique hotel in the Palmeraie, Marrakech, designed by Thierry Isnardon. This chic hideaway is a great alternative to a riad in Marrakech and is comprised of 10 contemporary African eco lodges made using traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and surrounded by 5 acres of lawns, olive groves and banana plants. There is also a charming green-stone pool with double loungers and a restaurant. A warm welcome in beautiful surroundings ensures that guests feel great on arrival and well rested and pampered on departure.
Les 5 Djellabas can arrange massages and beauty treatments, a private car and driver and plenty of activities in and around Marrakech depending on your interest, from playing a round of golf to Yoga lessons and a trip to the Berber villages in the Atlas Mountains. Visit the souks, sign up for a Moroccan cooking lesson or take a guided tour of the old town through narrow alleys and colourful quarters. Attractions such as the delightful Majorelle Gardens and the El Badi Palace also shouldn’t be missed.
Breakfast at Hotel Les 5 Djellabas is a selection of fresh pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cakes but eggs and pancakes are also available on request, if guests would like to eat something hot. Owner Frederic Velissariou is also behind Le Foundouk restaurant in the medina and Les 5 Djellabas has an outpost where guests can try a selection of tagines.
The 10 lodges at Hotels Les 5 Djellabas are spacious, circular, open-plan suites with conical thatched roofs, wooden doors and a tadelakt wall that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. Some suites have wooden four-poster beds and claw-foot baths; others have king-size beds and fire places in the sitting room. Photographs of Saharan scenes and North African artefacts decorate the interiors giving a very authentic feel to the rooms.
