San Domenico House - Chelsea, London

About this Chic Retreat

San Domenico House is a lovely little boutique hotel in the centre of stylish Chelsea. This charming townhouse has recently been renovated and is brimming with opulance, decorated with antique furniture, sumptuous fabrics & rare pieces of art, befitting of its fashionable London setting. San Domenico House is in a great location for visiting the city's wealth of museums and cultural sites, and perfect for shopping trips in Kensington. Friendly service and a quiet side-street location make this a fabulous chic retreat for a break in the capital.

There are 15 rooms & suites in San Domenico House, all individually decorated with gorgeous textiles and wonderful antique furniture. All rooms have marble en-suite bathrooms with bath & shower, complete with Molton Brown toiletries & towelling bathrobes.

The rooms have a regal feel, some with grand four-poster beds with glorious canopies, and deep reds & golds decorate the walls which are hung with wonderful art and gilded mirrors. Some Double Deluxe rooms have balconies with views over Chelsea, and all have rare 19th-century paintings, while the Double Superiors sport originals from the 18th century. Gallery rooms have split levels with a large living area by the upper-level entrance. Interesting antiques have been chosen for each room, and there is an overall feeling of elegance and style. All of San Domenico's rooms have a digital telephone with internet access, minibar, flat-screen TVs with satellite and large wardrobes to fit your clothes after a successful shopping spree.

Excellent shopping is just round the corner from San Domenico House. Kensington High Street and the King's Road have an array of wonderful shops, and the famous Portobello Road Market is great for antiques, fruit & veg, fashion and second hand finds. Chelsea Old Church and Carlyle's House, a National Trust museum dedicated to Thomas Carlyle are worth a look, and the nearby South Kensington has a wealth of interesting museums including the Science Museum, the V&A and the National History Museum. In Spring, the renowned Chelsea Flower Show is in town, and in football season it is well worth trying to get down to a Chelsea FC match.

San Domenico House has a lovely intimate breakfast room, where tantalising paintings of food & citrus fruits, and tasteful porcelain crockery adorn the walls. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be ordered by room service, along with afternoon tea, and there are so many top London restaurants in the area, guests will be spoilt for choice. The lounge area is ornate, with large comfortable armchairs and sofas, a lovely area to order some drinks from the San Domenico House menu.
