About this Chic Retreat
Set in fashionable Kensington, The Rockwell is a chic boutique hotel which combines quintessential English style with contemporary design in two converted Victorian terraces on Cromwell Street. Earls Court, Kensington's array of museums, Knightsbridge's boutique shopping streets and Harrods are just minutes away as well as the green oasis of Hyde Park. However, the crisp design, landscaped gardens and gourmet restaurant may leave guests not wanting to leave the comfort of this luxury hotel.
Accommodation
The Rockwell has 40 rooms of varying sizes. Dark wood, light walls, beautiful print wallpapers and thick sash curtains give the rooms a luxurious feel. Rooms are furnished with contemporary pieces that work on a traditional English theme. All bedrooms have bespoke oak wardrobes, and some have wrought-iron balconies. The large beds have pocket sprung mattresses designed to adapt to the shape of your body and sinking into the feather pillows under Egyptian cotton sheets and merino wool blankets, guests will be sure to have a lovely deep sleep.
The Mezzanine Suites are 2-level rooms separating the living area from the bedroom and garden rooms have spacious bathrooms and private south-facing patios. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms (the Garden Rooms have particularly large ones) with Phillipe Stark and Hans Grohe fittings, thick towelling bathrobes and White Company toiletries. All rooms have air-conditioning, fresh air ventilation, free broadband, flatscreen TVs with satellite and pay-per-view and even gym membership!
Activities
The Rockwell is in a great location with easy access to some of London's best museums, among them the Science Museum and the V&A which are on the same street as the hotel, and the grand Royal Albert Hall. With easy access to the tube, the rest of London is right at hand, although some may choose to stay local and shop in the fashionable stores of Knightsbridge, Kensington and Chelsea with stores from Urban Outfitters to Manolo Blahnik and Vivienne Westwood. There are some great bars in the area where fashionable types meet for an evening drink, including Prince Harry's sometime haunt, the Boujis private members venue. The hotel also has its own garden and terrace so guests can relax away from the hustle & bustle of the city.
Dining
Tasteful palm-frond print wallpaper, dark woods and views of the garden provide a comfortable and warm setting for a meal at The Rockwell's restaurant One-Eight-One. The menu is a mixture of English and international food, with grilled sea bass with fennel, orange, grapefruit & chilli salad, alongside homemade potato gnocchi with tomato, basil & parmesan, and salmon & cod Thai-style fishcakes with mango chilli sauce and there is an impressive wine list to accompany the meal. For outside dining, Ken Lo's well-known restaurant serves traditional Chinese food, and for Michelin star rated cuisine, visit Langan's Coq d'or.
Rates
Rates at The Rockwell are per room per night, including VAT and do not include breakfast. Children are welcome and beds can be provided at GBP 20 per night. Baby cots are free.

Less than 48 hours before arrival guests will be charged 100% of the total cost of the stay.
